Ladder inspection points:
- Non-skid feet
- No loose, broken or missing parts
- No wet or slippery treads or rungs
- Non-metal siderails when working around electricity
- Appropriate ladder weight rating
Safe ladder set-up:
- Ladder feet level on solid surface
- Both sides of extension ladder rest against a wall or other support
- Ladder spread fully and locked into position
- Ladder bottom at 75 degrees angle, or 1/4 of ladder height from wall
- Ladder at least 10 feet away from power lines
