PREVENTING VEHICLE ACCIDENTS
We have recently observed an increase in vehicle-related accidents across our network. To help ensure the safety of your team and minimize the risks associated with operating vehicles, we want to share a few critical reminders and best practices.
On the Road:
- Practice Defensive Driving: Stay alert, avoid distractions, and anticipate hazards.
- Maintain Safe Following Distance: Keep a minimum of three seconds between vehicles.
- Adjust Speed for Conditions: Follow speed limits and reduce speed in adverse weather.
Vehicle Maintenance:
- Inspect Vehicles Regularly: Check tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels.
- Secure All Cargo: Ensure items are properly fastened to prevent shifting during transit.
- Use Safety Equipment: Always wear seat belts and utilize any other necessary equipment.
Company Policies:
- Enforce Zero Tolerance for Distractions: Prohibit phone use and other distractions.
- Conduct Driver Safety Training: Reinforce safe driving practices regularly.
- Promote Safe Driving Culture: Recognize and reward safe driving behaviors.
