Preventing Violence in the Workplace

May 14, 2025

Workplace violence is a complex subject, but it’s an important one. Any form of violence at work, whether verbal threats, harassment, intimidation, or physical harm, threatens the safety and well-being of employees. At AlaCOMP, we believe every employee deserves a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.

What does workplace violence look like?

  • Verbal abuse or threatening language
  • Physical altercations or threats
  • Harassment or bullying
  • Domestic violence that carries into the workplace

How can it be prevented?

  • Speaking up when something feels off
  • Supporting coworkers who may be affected
  • Reporting concerns without fear of retaliation

Employers should:

  • Provide training on conflict resolution and violence prevention
  • Encourage open communication among staff
  • Establish and promote a clear, confidential reporting system

Prevention is a shared responsibility. A culture of safety starts with awareness and grows through action. If you see something concerning or need support, reach out to your supervisor or HR. Together, we can help make the workplace a safer space for everyone.
