Preventing Violence in the Workplace

Workplace violence is a complex subject, but it’s an important one. Any form of violence at work, whether verbal threats, harassment, intimidation, or physical harm, threatens the safety and well-being of employees. At AlaCOMP, we believe every employee deserves a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
What does workplace violence look like?
- Verbal abuse or threatening language
- Physical altercations or threats
- Harassment or bullying
- Domestic violence that carries into the workplace
How can it be prevented?
- Speaking up when something feels off
- Supporting coworkers who may be affected
- Reporting concerns without fear of retaliation
Employers should:
- Provide training on conflict resolution and violence prevention
- Encourage open communication among staff
- Establish and promote a clear, confidential reporting system
